Inclusive choices is a social enterprise founded to provide direct support to families impacted by disability. Inclusive Choices’ aim is to build the skills and knowledge of parents to best support the needs and development of their child; be the best parent they can be; and achieve optimal inclusion for their family within the community.
Inclusive Choices takes a rights based approach, guided by Disability / Human Rights & The Rights of the Child. Our work is informed by the international laws and mandates that underpin these rights. So, our approach is fundamentally concerned with Choice and Control, Duty of Care, as well as Safety and Growth.
We support a social model of disability, which looks beyond the impairments a person experiences and considers the barriers society puts in the way of an individual reaching their life goals. Often, social attitudes form one of the biggest barriers. In our work, we challenge limiting attitudes by posing alternate ways to think about an issue. This approach is highly effective in dismantling barriers to life goals and changing hearts and minds of those around us.
Our mission is to build the capability of families to best support their child; and for these families to achieve inclusion within their community.
